Shawn Munday

Shawn Munday is Vice President of Strategic Finance, responsible for Sonoco’s global treasury and tax functions along with the company’s mergers and acquisitions. He joined Sonoco in 2022 and was previously a Professor of Finance at the University of North Carolina (UNC) Kenan-Flagler Business School and a Senior Lecturer at Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business.

Prior to academia, Munday served as a managing director for Citigroup where he spent more than a decade advising private equity clients on acquisitions, divestitures, recapitalizations and capital-raising activities. He also served as a commissioned submarine officer in the U.S. Navy.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the U.S. Naval Academy and an MBA from UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School.
