James Harrell III

James Harrell is President of Global Industrial Paper Packaging (IPP) at Sonoco, overseeing the company’s approximately $2.4 billion industrial packaging business which consists of approximately 9,000 employees working in 145 facilities in 24 countries. IPP is a global leader in the production of uncoated recycled paper board, tubes and cores, cones, partition, protective packaging and other products.

Harrell joined Sonoco in 1985 and has served in various management and operational leadership roles across both the domestic and international industrial packaging businesses.

He graduated with his bachelor’s in business administration and management from Francis Marion University in 1985 and earned his MBA from Duke University in 2002. He serves on the board of South Carolina Chamber of Commerce and the Francis Marion University Alumni Association.
